FamilyMart Co., Ltd. has introduced a new sweet treat that rearranges “canele,” “fresh canele cake,” which went on sale nationwide on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

Cannelles are a traditional pastry originally from the Bordeaux region of France. In Japan, canelés enjoyed a boom in the 1980s, but in recent years, they are once again attracting attention, with the appearance of products and specialty stores that specialize in “evolved canelés” with a variety of flavors and toppings.
FamilyMart’s “Nama Canulé Cake” is a canulé with a milky, rich whipped cream filling in the center. The canele dough is slowly baked with margarine with fermented French butter, rum, and vanilla oil, and despite being a convenience store sweet, it has a “crispy” outside and a “chewy” inside.
