Afternoon Tea to Commemorate the 120th Anniversary of “Peter Rabbit’s Story
This year’s afternoon tea commemorates the 120th anniversary of the publication of the British picture book “Peter Rabbit’s Story”. The menu includes sweets and savories inspired by the characters and various scenes from the story.
Carrot cake representing “carrots in the field
The carrot cake is a small cake that represents the carrots planted in Uncle McGregor’s field. The nut-filled carrot cake is dusted with cocoa powder and crumble and decorated with orange confit gelée in the shape of a carrot.
Roll cake inspired by “roly-poly pudding
The roll cake was inspired by the local dish “roly-poly pudding,” which is also the source of the “nekomaki dango” in “Samuel the Bearded Rat’s Story. Strawberry jam and blueberry cream are rolled in raspberry dough and filled with blackcurrant flavored cream.
Savory & Scones too!
The savory lineup includes “Pain au Raisin,” which is inspired by grape bread, and a tomato consommé jus with quail eggs, which represents “Jimaima the Duck’s Story. In addition, the standard plain scones are served with chocolate with the 120th anniversary logo design.
