Today, we would like to introduce a Yamagata Ramen restaurant in Toyonaka, Osaka! The main store is in Toyonaka, but there is also a store in Osaka City (Tenma), so you don’t have to go to Toyonaka to eat there. However, please note that tsukemen is only available at the main restaurant, and the menu varies from restaurant to restaurant.
Yamagata’s local ramen, a rarity in Osaka
There are three main menu items at this main restaurant. Ramen, Hippari Mixed Soba, and Tsukemen are available. No photos are available, so a Google lens is a must. The lunch set includes a bowl of chashu (pork) for only 180 yen, normally priced at 330 yen!

Hippari Udon
This is one of the ways of eating udon in the inland area of Yamagata Prefecture, especially in the Murayama region. The udon noodles are boiled, then scooped out of the pot or kettle and eaten with sauce made from natto (fermented soybeans), canned mackerel, etc. (pour, dip, or mix). There are various theories as to the meaning of the word “Hippari (pull),” such as to pull the udon out of the pot or to pull the strings of natto (fermented soybeans). Other names for this style of udon include “Hikizuri Udon,” “Hippari-age Udon,” and “Tsuppari Udon.
Toppings include spicy miso, mackerel meat, natto, raw egg, green onion, and chashu pork!
It is quite rare to find spicy miso, mackerel meat and natto in ramen.
These are mixed together in one go, and served in style!
Thick round noodles with a firmer texture. Kelp plum vinegar is available on the table, so you can enjoy the change of taste by pouring it on during the course of the dish. This is refreshing and very tasty! However, this menu uses slightly peculiar ingredients such as mackerel and natto (fermented soybeans), so if you want to play it safe, order the regular ramen or tsukemen.
