Today we will introduce a ramen shop in Nakanoshima, Osaka, called “The world’s dullest ramen shop. “The world’s dullest ramen shop.” is just the name of the restaurant, which is actually a very popular ramen shop.

The world’s dullest ramen shop offers a total of six types of ramen on its menu.
WITCH’S RED (basic soy sauce ramen) 800 yen
KUROFUNE (black soy sauce ramen): 800 yen
CAPTAIN GOLD (light soy sauce ramen): 800 yen
KANKO DORI (mixed soba noodles): 900 yen
KUROFUNE RETURN! 840 yen
CAPTAIN GOLD COME BACK! 840 yen
The basic menu consists of three different flavors of soy sauce ramen and one mixed soba noodle. The last two are flavor-changing versions of each ramen topped with yuzu oil and chili pepper.
In addition to this, the following additions are available as a lunch set from opening until 4:00 p.m.
Rice (refill allowed once) +100 yen
Pork bowl +200 yen
Gyoza (3 ginger gyoza + 2 shiso gyoza) +200 yen
Captain Gold + Dumpling Set
This time I ordered Captain Gold, a set of light soy sauce ramen and gyoza (dumplings). From directly above, it looks like less, but in fact the vessel is just deeper.

The surface of the ramen is completely covered with huge pieces of chashu pork and bamboo shoots. When the noodles are pulled out from inside, medium-thick straight noodles with whole wheat flour are revealed.

The soup, on the other hand… the menu states that it is “lightly seasoned with bonito flavored oil,” but to be honest, I didn’t notice much bonito flavor. Instead? It tastes like a combination of shellfish broth and sweet soy sauce sauce.

The additional dumplings ordered were three ginger dumplings and two shiso dumplings, served side by side alternately. When you tear open the skin, you find that the filling is rather large and wild. The aroma is strong despite the lack of garlic, and the gyoza is tasty as a stand-alone item, but when paired with the meticulously calculated ramen here, it just doesn’t seem to mesh well.

This restaurant actually has a selection of specialty beers, so it might be interesting to visit at night. Also, it is located in the middle of Osaka City and is relatively easy to access, so if you are ever in Osaka, be sure to stop by.
