Introducing Tori (Chicken) SOBA Zagin, Niboshi Brunch, a famous restaurant conveniently located in Osaka City! The name “Niboshi (small dried sardines.)” means that small dried sardines are used, but there is no fishy smell at all, so even those who don’t like fish-based soups can enjoy this dish!
Try visiting at different times.
Since it is a popular restaurant, there is often quite a line from 12:00 to 13:00 and around 19:00, so if you want to get in smoothly, try to stagger your visit during these times. If you are in line, first line up in the lane in front of the ticket machine on the left to buy a meal ticket, then line up in front of the entrance to the restaurant. There’s a money changer next to the ticket machine so you can quickly break even if you don’t have fine money!
The restaurant has only counter seats. The dark, stylish interior does not look like a ramen shop. A tray, water, oshibori (hand towel), and shichimi (seven spice) togarashi are provided at the counter. Paper aprons are also provided, so ask for one if you need one.
Tori Tsuke Soba (Dip noodle with Chicken Soup)
This time, I ordered a large portion of Tori Tsuke Soba (Dip Noodke with chicken soup) with additional toppings of smoked egg and burdock root. All of the food is excellent, but I personally recommend the Dip Noodle. It is rare to find fried burdock root unripe, but it is delicious. The noodles are medium-thick flat noodles and chewy. The potage-like dipping sauce is thick and just plain delicious!
The dipping sauce contains chopped bamboo shoots and chicken chashu pork.
The fried burdock root is delicious eaten as is or dipped in the dipping sauce! The chashu pork served with the noodles is moderately fatty and rather crispy, so it is good when eaten with the thick dipping sauce. The smoked egg is not too smoky and goes well with the dipping sauce.
Finally, enjoy your soupwari! Soupwari is made easier to drink by pouring hot soup stock into the leftover soup to dilute it.
