Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo will launch a new line of goods focusing on traditional Japanese crafts, “Jimoto (Local) Made Plus,” on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.
New goods featuring Tsugaru Biidoro, a traditional craft of Aomori Prefecture
Since 2015, Starbucks has been developing “JIMOTO made” products that incorporate industries and materials unique to each region of Japan and are sold only at local stores. The second installment of the “JIMOTO Made Plus” series, which further expands on this concept, features a new line of goods featuring Tsugaru Biidoro, a traditional craft of Aomori Prefecture, which has been available since 2021.
Based on the design concepts of “daytime cherry blossoms”, “nighttime cherry blossoms”, “summer in Nakameguro”, and “lawstery Tokyo”, the lineup of goods will be a fusion of the rich hues of “Tsugaru Biidoro” from North Sea Glass, which is said to have 100 different colors, cool glass materials, and the reliable skills of craftspeople.
Ice trays, glasses and spoon rests expressing four design concepts
For example, “Tsugaru Biidoro Ice Plate” is a tasteful ice dish that makes use of the cool glass material to make you forget the summer heat. 4 colors in total, each color representing 4 design concepts, are expressed with different patterns in different colors. When arranged together with spoon rests and glasses of the same coloring, they bring the coolness of summer in Japan to your table.
Wind chimes and single-flower vases are also available.
Other items include the “Tsugaru-biidoro Fu-ring,” a wind chime with a pleasant sound that is made without the use of an opportunity, using only a glass blowing rod and mold, and the “Tsugaru-biidoro single-flower vase,” available in two colors: “cherry blossom,” which represents dancing cherry trees, and “brown,” which evokes lawless colors.
