【Sup! Gunma!】 Tanbara Lavender Park, one of Gunma’s most popular summer vacation spots and “one of the largest in the Kanto region” with approximately 50,000 lavender plants in bloom, is open for a limited time!

Tanbara Lavender Park in Tamahara Kogen, Numata City, Gunma Prefecture, will be open from July 9 (Sat) to August 21 (Sun), 2022.

Tanbara Lavender Park is a limited-time-only flower park featuring approximately 50,000 lavender plants, one of the largest in the Kanto region. In addition to the lavender fields, there are many other photo spots such as “Sai-no-oka” (colorful hill) and “Himawari Garden” (sunflower garden) where colorful flowers are in full bloom.

One of Gunma Prefecture’s leading summer vacation spots

Tanbara Lavender Park, located 1,300 meters above sea level on the Tamahara Plateau in Numata City, Gunma Prefecture, is one of the best summer resorts in the prefecture, with an average temperature of 25°C in July and August, more than 5°C lower than the Tokyo metropolitan area, attracting many tourists in search of cooler weather.

Lavender picking experience

In the garden, visitors can not only admire the beautiful lavender flowers and enjoy their fragrance, but can also “pick their own lavender. Visitors can take home the lavender they pick and enjoy it as dried flowers or potpourri.

Lavender soft serve ice cream and cold ramen noodles

The restaurant also offers an original lavender menu. In addition to lavender soft serve ice cream, which is consumed by approximately one in two visitors, the menu also includes cold lavender ramen noodles with lavender extract kneaded into the noodles and lavender scones with dried lavender mixed in.

Souvenir goods such as potpourri and soaps are also available.

Dried lavender and lavender potpourri are recommended as souvenirs. Natural soap, lavender lotion, and hand spray made with essential oil extracted from the lavender in the garden are also available.
