Kyoto Aquarium’s summer-only event, “Jellyfish and Wind Chimes,” is currently underway from Friday, July 1, 2022 to Friday, September 30, 2022.
Lifelike “Jellyfish Wind Chimes” at Kyoto Aquarium
Kyoto Aquarium’s summer-only event themed “Jellyfish and Wind Chimes” will be held again in 2021. During the event, a total of 21 types of jellyfish wind chimes will be decorated around the “Kyoto Satoyama” area in the Kyoto Aquarium.
Each wind chime is based on the motif of a jellyfish in the “Jellyfish Wonder” exhibit area. Under the supervision of the aquarium staff, the shapes and colors of the wind chimes were carefully selected to reproduce the unique characteristics of each species of jellyfish. The tanzaku strips of paper decorated below the wind chimes are filled with messages about the characteristics of jellyfish in the form of willow poems.
Visitors can not only enjoy the beautiful jellyfish wind chimes, but also learn about jellyfish while having fun walking around the museum.
Jellyfish wind chimes” illuminated at night
On the day of the “Night Suizokukan,” the jellyfish wind chimes are illuminated with warm light. Warm light illuminates the wind chimes, creating a fantastic atmosphere that is different from that of the daytime. The cool sound of the wind chimes echoing in the night breeze can be enjoyed, making them perfect for a summer evening date.
During the “Jellyfish and Wind Chimes” period, the museum will sell a limited menu featuring octopus jellyfish, “Octopus Jellyfish Outbreak! Mixed soft serve” is on sale. The soft serve is a mix of soft serve ice cream made of rum and fu chocolates, with a polka dot pattern of octopus jellyfish. The decoration, which includes seaweed noodles that resemble tentacles, is also a shining example of creative design.
