Moomin Valley and Umbrella” will be held at Moomin Valley Park in Hanno, Saitama, from April 27 (Wed) to July 3 (Sun), 2022.
Moomin Valley and Umbrellas,” an expanse of approximately 1,200 colorful umbrellas
Moomin Valley and Umbrellas” is a popular event at Moomin Valley Park, where approximately 1,200 colorful umbrellas, the largest number in Japan, are spread out. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the nature-rich corridor decorated with colorful umbrellas and take pictures.
The theme for the third event in 2022, following 2020 and 2021, is “Fly Anywhere in a Balloon of Imagination. The inspiration for this year’s theme comes from the picture book “Mysterious Journey to the Moomin Valley,” which tells the story of Susanna, a shy girl who begins her journey to the Moomin Valley.
Meet Little Mii! Approx. 200-meter corridor
The 200-meter-long corridor is filled with the friends of the Moomin Valley, along with rainbow-patterned umbrellas. Little Mii will greet visitors at the start of the tour, and cute characters such as Moomin and Sleepy Cat will appear throughout the corridor. The umbrella design also features a balloon motif.
The art director for 2022 will be Masaru Suzuki, who has designed for Marimekko and other world-famous brands.
