Hyatt Regency Tokyo will offer “Retro Afternoon Tea,” a limited-time Showa-era retro-themed afternoon tea set, from April 16 (Sat) to June 15 (Wed), 2022.

Showa Retro” themed afternoon tea

Founded in 1980 as the first Hyatt in Japan, Hyatt Regency Tokyo is celebrating its 42nd anniversary this year. This year, under the theme of “Showa Retro,” nostalgic sweets and savories inspired by old-fashioned coffee shops will be served in an afternoon tea style.

Retro sweets that tickle the heart of miniature lovers

The sweets that are the stars of the afternoon tea lineup include items in lovely forms that will tickle the hearts of miniature lovers. The “Pudding a la mode,” a classic Showa-era retro classic, the “Hotcakes” with a lovely shape topped with fresh Hokkaido butter, and the “Mini Chocolate Sundae” with a chocolate mousse infused with hazelnuts and a sweet and sour raspberry sauce that matches perfectly, make up a total of 8 items. The company offers a wide variety of products.

The royal road to a pure coffee shop, Neapolitan and cream soda are also available.

Of course, the free drinks that come with the savory dishes are also consistent with the Showa-era retro worldview. The menu includes “Neapolitan,” which is loved by men and women of all ages as a Western-style dish that originated in Japan, “omelette rice” with a surprise hidden inside, and “cream soda” with a bright red cherry on top, a classic pure coffee shop favorite.
