【Sup! Tokyo!】 UWS AQUARIUM GA☆KYO, an “Aquarium x Japanese tradition” art spot, opens in Odaiba!

The new art facility “UWS AQUARIUM GA☆KYO” will open in Aqua City Odaiba, Tokyo, on July 13, 2022 (Wednesday).

New Art Spot of Aquarium x Japanese Tradition

The new facility, UWS Aquarium Gakyo, is a new kind of art spot that mixes Japanese traditions and legends with an aquarium. It creates a fantastic space by crossing Japanese elements such as Ryugujo, Kaleidoscope, and Hanakai Doju with water creatures.

The venue is divided into five areas, each with a different theme. The centerpiece of the exhibition is the main area, “Ryugu,” which is a unique combination of aquarium, terrarium, driftwood art, and aquarium art.

RYUGU

Also available are “YURAKU,” an interactive exhibition zone that combines goldfish scooping and fortune-telling, and “WABISABI,” which displays works that look like ink paintings on hanging scrolls.

YURAKU

In the “Kaleidoscope – OIRAN” zone, visitors will be able to see a spectacular spatial work that uses goldfish as oiran (courtesans), and in the “MANGEKYO” zone, a collaboration with the art group MIRRORBOWLER will be on display.

Some of the tanks on display are available for purchase, and visitors who order them will receive exhibits comparable to those at the facility.
