Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street” is the longest and most famous shopping street in Japan. It is 2.6km from north to south and has about 600 shops in a row. It is not a superficial tourist spot like a tourist attraction, but a humanistic area where you can feel the life of the local people of Osaka as it is. Earlier we introduced the izakaya in Ura Tenma, but now we’re going to introduce you to some of the most popular gourmet restaurants on Tenjinbashi-suji shopping street.

① Croquettes that are addictive! “Nakamuraya”
First of all, I would like to introduce a popular croquettes shop called “Nakamura-ya” located on Tenjinbashi-suji shopping street 1-chome. This shop has been introduced on many TV programs and is very popular among celebrities and entertainers. There’s always a line of 10 or 20 people in front of the shop, so you’ll soon discover the shop. But because the shop rotates so fast, the wait time is usually around 5 to 10 minutes.

Croquette
80 yen (piece)
The croquettes are an easy size to eat, and the taste, with plenty of potatoes, is sweet and easy to eat, crunchy and delicious! Neighbors buy 10 or 20 of these, but since you can buy from one, you can walk around eating them. What’s more, even one of them is freshly fried, so you can enjoy the taste. Maybe one is not enough for me.
Except… Most of them are sold out in the evening, so it’s best to get there by around noon if possible.

② The look is individual. But the taste is outstanding! “Takoyaki Hiroko”

There is a small takoyaki shop in the place where you walk a little north from JR Tenma Station and enter a narrow alleyway. This restaurant is called “Takoyaki Hiroko” and is run by Hiroko, who is over 80 years old, by herself. Surprisingly, we’re open every day without a regular holiday. What’s more, the price of 10 pieces of takoyaki is very cheap at 250 yen!

Takoyaki
250 yen (10 piece)
To be clear, the shape of the takoyaki is a little unique. But the taste is good. The texture is chewy and homey. The homey takoyaki of Osaka is quite rare!

③ It is rumored to be the best in Osaka! “Umaiya”

Since this is Osaka, the city of takoyaki, I’d like to introduce one more Takoyaki shop. It’s a takoyaki shop called “Umaiya” (not Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street) on Tengo-Nakazaki-dori Shopping Street, which is adjacent to Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street. The restaurant has been in business since 1953, but it was destroyed by a fire in 2006, and they thought about closing the business for a while, but fortunately the signboard and cooking utensils remained and they were able to reopen the restaurant. Takoyaki
320 yen (8 pieces)
The texture is crispy! And it’s chewy on the inside. And the flavor of the bonito-based dashi is super dense. No source is required. Try eating it as it is. First time eaters are like, “Huh? You’ll be amazed at what you can do. It’s a takoyaki shop rumored to be the best in Osaka.

④ It is truly the taste of a master. “Bread specialty store, Takasho Tensan (Tenjin 3 chome) Store.”

Takasho” has nine stores in the Osaka area. There is basically only one type of bread on the menu. If you think of eating fresh bread, then this type of bread is delicious if you can cut it up and eat it fresh.

Shokupan (Bread)
2 loaf size, 750 yen
1 loaf size, 450 yen
The secret to the deliciousness of Takashō’s bread is its ingredients and manufacturing process. “Each product is made with carefully selected ingredients, and it is made slowly and slowly using the “yutane method”, a technique that is considered difficult even for skilled craftsmen. Also, no eggs or preservatives are used. You can safely feed them to your children.
Bread with anko or cream is sometimes sold for a limited time, so if you come across it, you’re in luck!

⑤ It’s so tiny and cute! nut not only that. A wide variety of flavors are available. “Eight Bread Premium”

One last thing. We introduce you to a shop that specializes in the right size bread for eating around. This is a food bread specialty shop that just opened in November 2019, but what sets it apart from other food bread specialty shops is that it offers not only regular food breads, but also a variety of fillings (flavors) in easy-to-eat mini-size versions.
