Gourmet event “I want to eat both! Anpan Eating Contest” will be held at Hankyu Umeda in Osaka and other locations from April 15 (Fri.) to April 17 (Sun.), 2022.
Department store popular bean-jam buns vs. supermarket co-developed bean-jam buns
Hankyu Department Store, in collaboration with supermarkets IZUMIYA, Hankyu Oasis, and QANATO Supermarket, has organized a gourmet event, “I want to eat both! Anpan Eating Comparison” was held.
During the event, visitors can “compare” and enjoy “Sake-kind Anpan” made by the popular Ginza Kimuraya Sohonten at the Hankyu Umeda main store and “Usukawa Anpan” jointly developed by Izumiya, Hankyu Oasis, and Qanat Super Market.
Sake-dane anpan” is the signature menu item of the Ginza Kimuraya head store, which was established in 1869. It is characterized by the refined flavor of the red bean paste made from Hokkaido azuki beans wrapped in bread dough made with sake-type yeast.

On the other hand, “Usukawa Anpan,” a product jointly developed by Izumiya, Hankyu Oasis, and Hankyu Bakery, is, as its name suggests, thin bread dough with a dense filling of red bean paste. The product uses a generous 200 grams of bean jam, making it as hearty as a Japanese-style confectionary. It is also nice to know that there are three flavors available: Koshi An, Tsubu An, and seasonal An. Both are available in limited quantities, so those who are interested should check them out as soon as possible.
