Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea will hold a special New Year’s-only event from Sunday, January 1 to Monday, January 16, 2023.

Kadomatsu (traditional Japanese pine trees) will be placed at the entrances of both parks to celebrate the start of the New Year. Special kadomatsu with designs of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and characters associated with the Chinese zodiac sign “U” for the year 2023 will add color to the New Year at the parks.

Greeting by Disney friends wearing Japanese kimonos
A “New Year’s Greeting” featuring Disney friends in kimono will also be held. They will celebrate the arrival of the New Year with guests along the parade route at Tokyo Disneyland and at Mediterranean Harbor at Tokyo DisneySea.

Special event-only merchandise
The event’s customary special merchandise will go on sale on December 1, 2022 (Thursday). The lineup includes goods depicting Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in gorgeous kimonos, Judy Hopps, White Rabbit, and other characters associated with the “Rabbit” zodiac sign. The lineup includes kinchaku, chopstick sets, bowls, oshiruko (sweet red bean soup), and other New Year’s items.

In addition, the annual Disney character plushies and plush badges in the shape of the Chinese zodiac will also be available. These will go on sale early on November 24 (Thu.).

In addition, the Sweetheart Café at Tokyo Disneyland and Zambini Brothers Ristorante at Tokyo DisneySea will begin offering the special sweets “Kuromitsu Jelly & Kinako Mousse with Souvenir Cup” on December 26 (Mon.). The set includes a souvenir cup in the shape of a teacup with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse dressed in kimono and characters associated with the Chinese zodiac.
