teamLab’s art exhibition “teamLab: The Forest Where Gods Live” will be held from July 14th (Friday) to November 5th (Sunday), 2023 at Mifuneyama Rakuen in Takeo City, Saga Prefecture.
teamLab x Mifuneyama Rakuen “teamLab Gods Live Forest”
Celebrating its ninth year, teamLab Gods Live Forest is an art exhibition set in Mifuneyama Rakuen, a large garden built on a 500,000-square-meter site. Supernaturally piled up huge rocks, a forest with 3,000-year-old trees, and a cave where the famous monk Gyoki enshrined 500 Rakan statues. By making full use of non-physical digital technology, we will express the trajectory of the activities of nature and people and the continuity of time.
《The Waterfall Possessing the Rock in front of the Goddess》
For example, Waterfall Possessed by a Rock in front of the Goddess is an installation work in which a digital waterfall is projected onto a gigantic stone about 3m high and 4.5m wide. Water is dropped onto a megalith reproduced in a virtual three-dimensional space, and its movement is simulated. Particles of water, calculated even for interactions between particles, draw lines that form waterfalls and color the megaliths.

One of the main works of this exhibition is Drawing on the Water Surface, in which images of colorful fish are projected onto the surface of a pond in Mifuneyama Rakuen. The image changes interactively according to the small boat floating on the pond. The fish not only gather in small boats that float, but also move away from small boats that have started to move, as if they were alive. It becomes an impromptu drawing and colors the surface of the water vividly.
In addition, various works that make use of the nature of Mifuneyama Rakuen are on display. It is an event where you can enjoy the beautiful cultural heritage through teamLab’s works, which “nature becomes art as it is”.
Collaboration with “Mifuneyama Rakuen Hotel Rakan no Yu”
The annual collaboration with “Mifuneyama Rakuen Hotel Rakan no Yu” will continue this year as well. Tickets will be on sale that allow you to experience the sauna and art as a set that won the “Sauna Chelan” Grand Prix for three consecutive years and was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
