The special exhibition “Taisho Roman x Hyakudan -The Nostalgic World Invited by Great Literature-” is a “Maiden’s Bookshelf” where popular contemporary illustrators express the stories spun by great writers such as Junichiro Tanizaki and Osamu Dazai with their unique sensibilities. realized through collaboration. Set in the retro architecture “Hyakudandan”, which was built as the third building of the former Meguro Gajoen, there will be a panel exhibition of illustrations and a space exhibition that reproduces the scenes related to the story.

The stories picked up are 6 works published from the Meiji to the early Showa period, even among modern literature. Sakutaro Hagiwara’s “Nekomachi”, Atsushi Nakajima’s “Sangetsuki”, Osamu Dazai’s “Hazakura and the Magic Flute”, Mimei Ogawa’s “Moonlit Night and Glasses”, Kyoka Izumi’s “Surgical Room”, Junichiro Tanizaki’s “Secret” was vividly expressed by six artists.

The music played at the venue is an original piece created by musician Takeshi Yoda for the exhibition. The spatial exhibition that makes the most of the dignified feeling of a real wooden building will be even more exciting.
