Freshly Baked Taiwanese Sweets Specialty Store “Banka” Opens in Minami-Morimachi, Osaka
The signature menu is Japan’s first freshly baked pineapple cake.
The signature item on the menu is Japan’s first freshly baked pineapple cake, made from pineapples grown in the sunshine of southern Taiwan. When you take a bite of the freshly baked pineapple cake, the sweet and sour aroma of the pineapple and the aroma of the dough will fill your mouth.
100% pineapple, winter melon mix, and cranberry & walnut
There are three flavors: the Wanhua homemade pineapple cake with 100% Taiwanese pineapple filling, the winter melon cake with sweet and sour pineapple filling and wax gourd filling, and the cranberry walnut cake with sweet and sour cranberries and crunchy walnuts. The other is the Cranberry Walnut Cake, which combines sweet and sour cranberries with crunchy walnuts. There will be more flavors to come in the future.
Taiwanese sponge cake popular in Japan, plain and with cheese.
The Taiwanese sponge cake, called “Guzao Wei Dangao” in Taiwan, is also a must-try menu item. The Taiwanese sponge cake is made using the traditional Taiwanese baking method, and the huge pieces of dough, more than a meter across, are baked and served on the spot.
There are two flavors: “Plain,” a simple and classic flavor that lets you fully enjoy the taste of ingredients such as eggs and milk, and “Cheese,” a slightly salty and less sweet flavor made by sandwiching red cheddar cheese in the “plump” sponge cake dough. The other is “Mellow Cheese,” which has a slightly salty and less sweet taste.
