Osaka Metro will open Osaka Metro’s first directly-managed pop-up store “Metro Opus Umeda Store” on Monday, April 11, 2022, in front of the North ticket gate of Umeda Station on the Midosuji Line.
What is “Metro Opus”?
Metro Opus” is a new concept that utilizes the site of the former information counter, where various products selected by Osaka Metro will be sold on a weekly basis, including sweets, general food items, and goods. In addition, as a new trial, a refrigerated vending machine will be installed adjacent to the store, allowing customers to purchase some of the products sold at the store even after the store closes.
“Metro Opus” store concept
Opus” means “work number” in classical music, and the pop-up store is meant to be a “work of art” with a lineup of carefully selected products for a limited time only. The symbol mark, which is reminiscent of an “entrance” or “frame,” expresses an unknown encounter.
Refrigerated vending machines attached to stores
The refrigerated vending machines are equipped with built-in AI cameras that automatically acquire estimated attributes of buyers, such as age and gender, as well as purchasing information, which will be used to provide better service, such as the lineup of products to be sold.
