The theme of this year’s buffet is “Matcha, Melon and Chocolate,” which is a refreshing change from the popular “Strawberry Picking at the Hotel” buffet that was held for five months from January to GW in 2021. The theme for this year’s buffet is “Matcha, Melon, and Chocolate.” You can fully enjoy about 40 kinds of sweets and gourmet foods with three kinds of ingredients: matcha, melon, and chocolate.
New edo Matcha Shortcake is now available in buffet size!
Of particular note is the “New edo Matcha Shortcake,” which is a beautiful cross-section of the harmony of Japanese and Western styles. It is an extravagant dish made of two types of dough made with matcha green tea, wasanbon sugar, and brown rice eggs, sandwiched between Japanese ingredients such as kuromitsu bean paste, kuromitsu jelly, and matcha custard cream. You can enjoy the luxurious taste of Japanese sweets at a buffet size.
Hotel New Otani’s limited edition sweets by Pierre Hermé
Also, Pierre Hermé, a leading figure in the pastry world, has created a new sweet called “Depaise” exclusively for Hotel New Otani. It is a delicate Japanese sweet consisting of a crispy sablé base layered with a bittersweet green tea bavarois and a refreshing azuki bean jelly with lime.
In addition, a variety of other sweets will be available, including “Paris-Brest,” a ring-shaped cream puff arranged with Japanese ingredients such as matcha green tea and kuromitsu bean paste; “Super Melon Shortcake,” the hotel’s signature sweet that uses an abundance of muskmelon from Shizuoka Prefecture; and “Pure Melon Jelly,” which lets you taste the flesh of the melon. A variety of sweets are available.
