TV anime ‘Banana Fish’ is an animation based on the manga work of the same name by Yoshida Akio, which started its serialization in 1985 and aired from July to December 2018. The story is set in New York City, USA, where the main character Ash Lynx, a street kid boss, and Eiji Okumura, a Japanese, pursue the mystery of “Banana Fish” while confronting a mafia boss.
Food and sweets based on the concept of a “night in New York”
This year’s “Banana Fish” collaboration café, the second to be held in 2020, will feature a stylish atmosphere based on the concept of a “night in New York. It will offer a menu inspired by New York, the setting of the work, as well as food and sweets related to the characters’ roots. Original goods will also be available.
The menu is reminiscent of the story of “Banana Fish,” including the “Tofu and Shake Salad Bowl,” a Japanese twist on the salad bowl popular among New Yorkers with tofu and grilled salmon, and the “His Night’s Main Dish,” a roast beef plate inspired by the dinner that appeared in episode 9, “Waltz with Me. There will be a variety of menu items reminiscent of the “Banana Fish” story.

There is also a wide selection of desserts. Banana waffles with red cassis ice cream and berry sauce, apricot pudding, sesame dumplings, and other “Chinese sweets plates” that will give you a taste of Chinatown, as well as chocolate fondue with an image of one of the characters, Moon Dragon.

The lineup of original goods sold at the cafe includes newly drawn goods featuring the characters and miscellaneous goods with an image of retro American neon signs of New York. The lineup includes acrylic stands for Ash, Eiji, and Shorter, acrylic badges with neon sign motifs, glasses with neon sign-like silhouettes of Ash and Eiji, and blister plates.
