Plum Blossom Festival at Expo ’70 Commemorative Park
The Expo Park Plum Blossom Festival is a spring event where you can enjoy gourmet food, art, and workshops while admiring the plum blossoms at their peak. The plum tree grove in the Expo Park’s Nature Park has about 600 plum trees of 120 varieties, and the Japanese Garden has about 80 plum trees of 40 varieties.
In the Japanese Garden Plum Grove of the Nature Park, there are various spots such as the “Ume Marche” where you can enjoy shopping, the “Mizuguruma Teahouse” where you can taste ume food and drinks, and the “Nature Observation and Learning Center” where you can learn about ume through panel displays.
Ume Sweets & Ume Food
One of the best places to visit is the Mizuguruma Tea House, where delicious gourmet foods are gathered. You will find a wide variety of food and drinks, including ume sweets from popular confectionary stores, ume udon noodles made with Kishu Nanko ume plums, and ume drinks to warm you up.

For three days, February 23 (Wed.), 26 (Sat.), and 27 (Sun.), Choya Umeshu will open a booth under the title of “Osaka Ume-no-jin 2022. The event will feature a “5 kinds of plum wine tasting kit,” a set of plum wine cocktails that can be tasted at “The Choya Ginza Bar,” a specialty plum wine cocktail store, as well as bonbon chocolates made with aged plum wine and ripe plums.
In addition, on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays during the period, the kitchen car in front of the Mizuguruma Teahouse will sell “hot plum wine” and “hot plum drink” takeout drinks.
Shopping at Ume Marche
The “Ume Marche,” also open only on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays during the festival period, will sell processed ume products such as “UME-TEMMA,” ume cider made with ume juice from Kishu, as well as other delicious gourmet foods. It will also offer a variety of special foods such as spring vegetables from Chikago and delicious tofu.
