The Kyoto Aquarium will hold a summer event “Jellyfish and Wind Chimes” from Saturday, July 1, 2023 to Monday, October 2, 2023.
Summer Event “Jellyfish and Wind Chimes”
Starting in 2021 and celebrating its 3rd year in 2023, Kyoto Aquarium’s summer limited event “Jellyfish and Wind Chimes”. During the period, about 170 “jellyfish wind chimes” with 24 species of jellyfish motifs will be displayed, centering on the jellyfish displayed in the jellyfish exhibition area “Kurage Wonder” at the Kyoto Aquarium.
“Like the real thing” new work “Jellyfish Wind Chime”
The highlight is the “real-looking” “jellyfish wind chime” that will be appearing for the first time. All of the wind chimes are produced by Takuglas, a glasswork specialty store in Niigata Prefecture, under the supervision of the breeding staff of the Kyoto Aquarium. The delicate characteristics of each species, such as color, shape, and length of tentacles, are faithfully reproduced.
Held on the “largest scale ever”
In addition to the second-floor terrace and Harvest Cafe, the exhibition area will be expanded to the slope next to the “Kyo no Satoyama” area, and will be held on the “largest scale ever.” A red tower will be set up in the new exhibition area, and 45 “jellyfish wind chimes” will be hung in a tunnel-like space.
Fantastic night illumination
Also, on extended business days, it is lit up at night. The “Jellyfish Furin” displayed on the second floor terrace and on the tower next to the “Kyo no Satoyama” area will be lit up to create a fantastic mood that is a bit different from the daytime.
A limited menu full of jellyfish
In addition, during the “Jellyfish and Furin” period, a limited menu of “exhausting jellyfish” will be available. In the image of a jellyfish, we have prepared soft serve ice cream topped with colorful and crunchy seaweed noodles that look like jellyfish tentacles, and ramen with an outstanding “blue” soup.
